Also for the ladies reading this one, and fellas if you've actually got a point, feel free to chime in as well, how do you feel about the Allure Naked spread? Do you think it's soft core porn, artful photography, gloating by ladies with nice bodies or something completely different?

I always like shoots like these, and this one is no exception (not just because they're nakeeeed). I just always wish they'd include all sorts of body types though, not just the ever popular incredibly-thin-but-still-has-big-boobed figure. I would have loved to see someone like Jennifer Hudson included; just as beautiful, but a breath of fresh air when it comes to the shapes they include in nude spreads.
ReplyDeleteI also get annoyed with how much the staff of these magazines shop the photos. Isn't the main purpose of the spread to show how proud women are of their bodies? Covering them up with airbrushing strikes me as pretty counterproductive as far as sending out a good message to their teen and young adult readers.
The United States is shallow, I get that. I just wish they'd stop trying to pretend they aren't.
Very well put and also thank you for understanding what i was asking. The idea of the question seemed lost on most making it seem like i was offended by this stuff. I have to agree with you on the airbrush stuff, especially because the feeling you get from the little blurbs is that they're proud of themselves just they way they are. Maybe another question is how much of the tampering is in the magazines hands, or in the hands of the models/pr teams themselves.
